Jack Gets a Hair Cut

A couple of weeks ago, we were doing some landscaping in the front yard, and decided to take a break for a while. So my cousin, Kylie, and I went in the backyard to play in the water hose, and we let Bubba play with a bucket. Don't feel sorry for him. He was perfectly content with just a bucket.

Anyway, we looked at Bubba and decided it was time. Yes, my friends, it was time. Take a look at the following 3 pictures and tell me what they all have in common...

That's right. His hair looked ridiculous. Seriously, people would say "Oh my, that hair is just too cute!" But let's be honest people, it was getting a little out of control.

So Grandma strapped him into the high chair (against her will of course), and started trimming away.
And Bubba loved it.

I mean, he was totally on board. So excited...

 And happy...

And not at all exhausted with the whole idea.

And when it was all said and done... he was too embarrassed to show off his new do.

Just kidding. Turns out he looks super cute. And don't worry, Grandma just took a little off the top :)

Jack Brushes His Teeth

Tonight, Jack hit another milestone. He had his teeth brushed for the first time... and guess who got to do the honors???... ME!

I started out by carefully applying toothpaste to his brand new toothbrush.

Then, I took a little lick of course :)

And then I oh-so-carefully shoved the toothbrush up Bubba's nose. He he he.

I finally figured it out though, and I'm pretty sure I did a great job.

Bubba loved the taste of toothpaste, and quickly grabbed the toothbrush from me so that he could brush his teeth himself... as if I'm not 2 years older than him and WAY better at brushing teeth than he is.

Oh well. How could I be mad at this guy?
I still destroy you in wrestling though.
Love you Bubba!

I Love Warm Weather

Just 2 short months ago, it was unseasonably cold for Texas, and we actually had a couple of Snow Days.

Snow is yummy, but you wanna know what the best part about Snow Days are? Mama and Daddy get to stay home and Mama makes me Mickey Mouse pancakes. (Disregard the one bum ear.)

YUMMMMMM!!!!

Now, the weather is warm, and that's just how I like it, because there's so much fun stuff to do outside.
I get to ride my bike...

... and play soccer...

and Mama and Daddy go on a lot of walks with me and Bubba. Most of the time we walk down to the park.

I'm pretty awesome at playing, but Bubba mostly just sits in his stroller and smiles at everyone.
But I have a feeling that's all about to change, because Bubba hit a BIG milestone today. He got on a swing for the very first time!

He LOVED it! Mama especially loves this picture because you can see Bubba's crooked toes :)
Take a look... hilarious!
Every time the swing went forward, he did his goofy laugh, and we all laughed. I love my Bubba!
Bring on the warm weather!

Fancy New Blog

So, if you're reading this, I'm sure you've already noticed the new look and feel of my blog. I hope you also noticed that I changed the name of my blog from "Maddy Cakes and Flap Jack" to "Maddy Cakes and JUMBO Jack."

I made the conscious decision to stay with the food reference (just because it's fitting, since my brother and I have never turned down a meal), but Mommy thought "Flap Jack" gave the impression of something thin and flimsy.

"JUMBO Jack" is... well... JUMBO, and much more appropriate for my Bubba.

Seriously. Have you seen this guy lately? He's huge!

He's so big that he's growing out of his bouncer...

and his pants...

... and I think it goes without saying that he grew out of his baby bath a LONG time ago. He has to bathe in momma and daddy's big tub now. (Doesn't it look like he's wearing an inflatable suit?)

Although he's big... he's big and happy. I know that I was a happy baby, but this kid is deliriously happy all the time.

OMG... doesn't this next one look like Papa? (aka John Ames) Momma says this picture is really creepy because it looks like Papa's head on a baby body.

The only time that he's not smiling is when he's making these weird faces because he has two teeth now. Momma says that he's feeling his teeth with his tongue and that it's normal.

Personally, I don't think there's anything normal about looking like this...
He he he

Ava's 3rd Birthday

A few weeks ago, my cousin Ava turned 3 and we went to Austin for her birthday. She had a cowgirl themed party at a super fun place called Kiddie Acres.

Kiddie Acres is pretty much the most awesome place to go, because all of the rides are for kids that are little like me.

When we first got there, we were standing at the gate and I couldn't wait to ride all of the teeny tiny rides. Neither could Ava. Check out her face... This was a foreshadowing of what was to come...

Here's a picture of us on the teeny tiny ferris wheel (right before Ava got kicked off for not minding the ferris wheel operator).

Here we are on the teeny tiny boat ride (right before Ava got in trouble by the ride operator for not keeping her hands in the boat)...

... and here we are in the teeny tiny boat ride (right after Ava got in trouble for the second time for splashing and not keeping her hands in the boat).

Here we are in a tiny plane...

...and driving tiny cars...

and on a tiny train ride with Mimi.

Here's Aunt Ral Ral and Ava on the tiny carousel ride.

The only thing that wasn't so tiny was the pony ride. Look at me riding a horse like a real big girl.

Here's me waving to my fans.

Cousin Lawson was there too. This is him waiting anxiously for his turn to ride the pony.

Ava rode the pony, too. (She didn't get kicked off of this one... YAY!)

Even though the rides at Kiddie Acres are tiny, Bubba's still too little to ride them. He had the best seat in the house, though... sittin' in the shade nuzzled up with Memaw.

Here's our rough and tough crew at the end of a fun birthday party. Happy Birthday Ava! I love you!
